Sheida Soleimani
Sheida Soleimani (b. 1990) was born in Indiana to parents who were political refugees persecuted by the Iranian government in the early 1980s during the Iranian Revolution. She grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Soleimani’s work highlights the relationships between powerful political people, groups, governments, and corporations. Soleimani received her BFA degree in Photography from the University of Cincinnati in 2012. She continued her studies and received an MFA degree in Photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2015. Solo exhibitions include: On The Wall: Sheida Soleimani (2022) at Providence College Galleries, RI; and Medium of Exchange (2018-2020) which traveled to locations such as the CUE Art Foundation, NY; Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center, OH; and others. Recent group exhibitions include A Trillion Sunsets at the International Center of Photography, NY (2022); and Immune Project at the Living Art Museum in Reykjavik, Iceland (2022). Soleimani documented her experience during the Covid-19 pandemic with a series of photographs that were featured in The New York Times. She currently teaches Studio Art at Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts. She is represented by Edel Assanti, London; Harlan Levey Projects, Brussels; and Denny Dimin Gallery, New York.
